Transitioning to Mplus
for Multilevel Modeling
The Mplus statistical software program offers powerful multilevel modeling (MLM) capabilities. Because Mplus is also a powerful latent variable modeling software, it can be used to extend standard MLM into multilevel structural equation modeling and multilevel dynamic structural equation modeling. This course is intended for those who already know the basics of MLM but want to switch to Mplus to do so.
Instructor:
Aidan Wright, PhD (University of Michigan)
Workshop Dates and Times:
Recorded on July 8-9, 2024
Now available for self-paced learning
Workshop Format:
Two-Day Online Workshop Recording
This workshop is designed to help researchers in the health and behavioral sciences transition to using the Mplus statistical software framework for multilevel modeling (MLM). The focus of the course is on familiarizing researchers with the Mplus modeling framework, provide instruction how to correctly code popular MLMs (e.g., fixed effects, random effects, cross-level interactions), as well as showcase some exciting features available in Mplus not available in other programs (e.g., standardized effects). Defaults and peculiarities of the Mplus modeling program are also highlighted to ensure researchers avoid accidental model misspecification. Note that this course does NOT cover the conceptual basis and statistical foundations of MLM. It assumes researchers are already sufficiently familiar with MLM and the focus is on learning how to use software.
This workshop is an excellent introduction to Mplus for those interested in extending their skills with multilevel structural equation modeling, offered immediately following this workshop. Note that signing up for this workshop and multilevel structural equation modeling together as a “combo” will earn a 20% reduced fee on EACH workshop.
